Wednesday Oct 18. London!

What will we do and see today?
We headed back thru Hyde park to catch a view of the Peter Pan statue and The Italian Garden.

Being in London certainly brings back lots of images in my mind from books I've read!  I'm sorry to say that even tho I had every intention of trying to see some "Harry Potter" scenes, that simply didn't work into our agenda. Ironically ( though) we didn't even see any signage or souvenirs relating to the books.  Obviously we were not in the right area of London! (and didn't have the "right" tour guide!) LOL!

Since we slept in a bit after our big day and over 8 mile walk the evening before, we missed the breakfast at the hotel but decided it would be a good time to take advantage of a meal at The Orangery at Kensington Palace.  Such an elegant Tea room, and we had a delicious morning tea in an elegant setting. I'm bummed I can't put those pictures here, as it was such a delightful stop. Again, some of them can be found on my FB & both Ruth and my Instagram posts.

We toured Kensington Palace next, read & saw lots of history and enjoyed the Princess Diana dress display.

We did alot of walking on Wednesday also, logging over 8 miles again.  We saw Buckingham Palace and spent some time looking around the gift shop there. People watching is always interesting, and walking the streets gave us good views there.  We never felt unsafe, there were lots of people of all ages walking and jogging on the streets early morning to late evening. We found another delightful little tea room called "The English Rose",  tucked away in the afternoon just in time for another spot of tea, as we were famished. Scones served with clotted cream & jam.  This place reminded me in many ways of the tea room we had for a while.

On the agenda for this day was the performance "Mamma Mia" in one of the many old and ornate Theaters.  It really was quite fun!  It was quite late when we finished there, and a long way back to our hotel so we took the underground train.

Unfortunately ALL the photos I took on this day were with my phone and I cannot access them (yet?) They are in an Album on FB also.  Thursdays post will have pictures again!
